Whole villages in North Kent would be wiped out, and hundreds of homes lost, if the four-runway airport proposed by the architect Lord Foster goes ahead.

It comes nearly a decade after the last proposal for an airport in the area at Cliffe was ruled out. Three children in Kent aged under 10 have been issued with a shotgun licence in the last two years.

There were more than 30 nationwide, and there is now calls for a minimum age limit to be imposed. The information was released in response to a request from Labour MP Thomas Docherty, who is calling for a change in the law.

Ninety-three children were seriously injured on Kent's roads last year. The number has gone down by 60% in the past decade, but as the evenings get darker the government is asking parents to remind their children of the dangers of roads.

Steve Horton is in charge of road safety at Kent County Council and he spoke to us this morning.
