Is it time to put humans above birds and back Boris Island?

Kent MP Mark Reckless has written to new Transport Secretary Justine Greening to seek reassurance an international airport will not be built in the Thames Estuary.

Medway Council says the plan is "undeliverable, unaffordable and unnecessary" and has run a campaign since 2009 opposing it.

Is that the right approach? Can we afford to turn down investment of this scale? New jobs? Is that what Kent needs right now? Could this airport actually save us from economic doom? Why are we against it? For the sake of the wildlife?

Are you a bad dad if you are not there at the birth of your child?
