Are you selfish if you stay in a house that is too big for you?

There are now 25m unoccupied bedrooms in British homes. This figure, released today by new campaign group the Intergenerational Foundation starkly highlights how much of Britain's housing is unused, despite the desperate housing shortage that affects the younger generation.

Are you rattling round in your big house since the kids flew the nest? Why do you need all that space? Should an 88-year-old lady who has no legal status in this country be deported?

Lydia Werritt came to Kent eight years ago after her farm was seized by supporters of Robert Mugabe, and now lives with her daughter and son-in-law. She has no legal status to be here. The UK Border Agency want to send her back to Zimbabwe. Her daughter says she should stay.
