Kent mobile phone motorists still offending

Nearly 6,000 fines were issued to motorists in Kent for flouting the law on mobiles last year. However, figures obtained by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Kent appear to show crackdowns on the problem by Kent Police is working with the increase in the number of offences since 2009, only a fraction of what it was before.

One concern is the growing number of younger drivers using the latest smart phones at the wheel.

Smarden Primary School near Ashford has hit the headlines after it became the 1,000th school in the country to become an academy.

That means it has become independent from Kent County Council and now gets money direct from government instead. The schools minister Lord Hill dropped in to mark the occasion.

She is just four years old but a Kent youngster is already wowing audiences as a tightrope artist. Tianna Fidelia-Christian from Iwade is the star of her family's travelling circus.

Tianna not only performs as a clown, but happily sits on the shoulders of a tightrope walker, while doing lassoo tricks.
