Thanet head teacher refuses to take needy children

It is morally wrong to keep sending the most needy children to the most deprived parts of Kent, according to head teachers in Thanet. They say their schools are collapsing under the weight of the number of foster children in the area.
The head teachers we heard from this morning are calling on politicians to take action.
Retail guru Mary Portas has been to Margate, to see for herself the town with the second worst rate of empty shops in the UK.
She was in Margate as part of her fact-finding tour for the government, and is advocating councils should turn vacant retail units into homes, to revive town centres.
Manners, they do not cost anything, but go a very long way. Next month children in Kent will be the first in Britain to be taught half-hour lessons in manners and good behaviour. The programme called Manners4Minors will be launched in Swale.
