Chatham's new bus station confusion

Matt Davison sits in alongside Clare with the latest news, travel, and weather for Kent.

Chatham's new multi-million pound bus station opens next month, but it might be without any buses.

The main operator Arriva is demanding that Medway Council pays the cost of its current lease on the old Pentagon Bus Station, before it moves out. The bill for that would cost Β£500,000. An urgent meeting of the council is being held today to discuss the issue.

There are a shortage of more than 1,000 midwives in the South East. According to the Royal College of Midwives, which says the shortage, together with rising birth rates and more complicated pregnancies, is creating a "dangerous cocktail".

The Department of Health says more midwives are being recruited, and 2,500 women are on training places this year.

The new Guiness Book of World Records is published today, with Kent claiming one of the more unusual titles. The county is home to the world's heaviest blueberry.
