Canadian immigrants
No prizes for guessing where the Canada geese come from, but they now live in the UK due to travelling estate owners bringing them back to adorn their parks and gardens. One of the reasons that Canada geese do so well is because people feed them so much. But it's the food coming out the other end that remains one of the main problems for many. Another reason to dislike these geese it that they do have a tendency to gobble up or trample on just about anything the reserve workers plant. They can also be a bit pushy when it comes to taking over the best nest sites. However, when seen in their original home across the Atlantic, their migration takes them across both Canada and America and the sight and sound can be quite simply breathtaking. The UK ones have now lost the urge to migrate and end up honking and pooing all year round, which makes them pretty unwelcome as alien invaders.
