Nest raiders
Crowned lapwings are ground nesting birds, and not a species to take the arrival of a family of eggsnatching mongooses lightly. With their incessant ruckous, the lapwings try to draw attention towards themselves. The mongoose follow the noise and are drawn away from the nests, leaving the eggs safely behind.
