Episode 2

Episode 2 of 6

Jake makes a tricky arrest, Dom investigates a violent assault, Khadeejah and Aarifah seize a car, and Philippa and Jenny deal with a woman trying to climb out of a high window.

Philippa and Jenny continue their attempt to arrest an aggressive male who is putting up a fight. With the help of an off-duty paramedic, the pair finally manage to get him into the police van. It is the first time Philippa has had to deal with that level of violence, and now she feels ready to take on anything.

PCs and friends Khadeejah and Aarifah are on response. While on traffic duty, they share boy 'icks' – filters and modified cars rank highest! A female Batman and Robin, this is a partnership that really works.

The banter stops when they see someone run a red light – right in front of them. The driver has borrowed his mum’s car, and Khadeejah and Aarifah discover that he has no insurance. As they deal with the case, a crowd gathers… for two female officers, it’s an intimidating moment. They have to seize the car – as for the driver, he’s going home to a very unhappy mum.

Later, Khadeejah gets the email she’s been waiting for and dreading at the same time – her degree results. She’s joined the police on their graduate scheme, so the stakes are high as failing might mean losing her job, but Aarifah is on hand to support.

Jake is at the scene of a reported vandalism on personal property. The suspect is well known to the Leicestershire police – in fact, they’re already wanted for shop theft. While making the arrests, Jake needs to dial up his aggression to deal with the situation, aware there’s a crowd of hostile onlookers gathering. In custody, the regulars are much calmer, and even get their food orders in as soon as they’re through the door.

Sergeant Dom is responsible for managing a large team, which also means a few jokes at his expense. Dom and response partner Dan are called out to a violent case – a man has been attacked in broad daylight. With no other support available, Dom swings into action getting statements, conscious that witnesses may not stick around for long. This is real detective work, and Dom is feeling the responsibility of handling an important case. He hits the jackpot when a local community centre shares footage of the attack – but Dom knows that, as a response officer, he only deals with the immediate scene and may never find out what happens when the case is investigated further.

Mentor Jenny has been trying to build up new PC Philippa’s confidence. The pair attend an unusual call-out – a woman has been seen attempting to climb from a window of a second-floor flat, but by the time they arrive, she has climbed back in. It is an area that is known for drugs – but as someone who has never touched a drug in her life, Philippa is outside of her comfort zone. As they try to speak to the woman, they discover she can’t leave the flat as she doesn’t have a key. It’s a confusing situation, and before they know it, she is once again trying to climb out the window… who is she, and why does she keep trying to escape?
