Easter Music
Celebrating Scotland’s classical world, Jamie MacDougall highlights the work of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Scottish Symphony Orchestra in concert alongside other Scottish artists and ensembles.
Jamie marks Easter Sunday with Bach’s Magnificat, his musical telling of the story of Mary in the Bible, performed in a live recording by the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Singers with the Â鶹ԼÅÄ SSO and Chief Conductor Ryan Wigglesworth. Ahead of his appearance with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, we hear Scottish guitarist Sean Shibe in music from his acclaimed album Soft/Loud. Finnish violin superstar Pekka Kuusisto joins British tenor Allan Clayton and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in Glasgow’s City Halls to perform Les Illuminations by Benjamin Britten, plus an Easter classic, Handel’s famous Messiah in a recording from the Dunedin Consort that won Baroque Vocal album of year at the Grammophone Awards.
