Opening Night
Celebrating Scotland’s classical world, Jamie MacDougall highlights the work of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Scottish Symphony Orchestra in concert and other Scottish artists and ensembles.
Jamie begins this first edition of Classical Now with another ‘opening night’, the debut performance of Chief Conductor Ryan Wigglesworth with the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Singers in a live recording of Ravel’s sensuous story of love, pirates and Greek myth – Daphnis et Chloe. Also on the programme, music from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra playing Nico Muhly’s sparky violin concerto with Pekka Kuusisto, plus a recording of the Dunedin Consort described as ‘nothing short of sensational’.
