Ben struggles with recent events and Rex has regrets.

Ruth fills in Rex on what happened at The Bull when she found Bert unresponsive. Rex can’t remember exactly what he said to Bert before he left for the pub. He wishes he’d been more considerate. Rex agrees to take on the task of informing Trevor, Bert’s son, as he’ll need to visit the bungalow. Once Rex has got hold of Trevor, he and Ruth look for the few things of Bert’s that Trevor asked Rex to put to one side for him. Trevor messages to say he’ll arrive tomorrow rather than the weekend.
Freddie and Lily continue to bicker and Elizabeth tells them to get over it. Later, Elizabeth walks in on the twins still needling one another. She tells them the news that Bert has died and they quickly forget their fighting. They are all relieved that Freddie didn’t get round to cancelling Bert for his failed ghost stories tour idea.
Beth tries to gauge how Ben is feeling after witnessing Bert’s sudden death. Ben diverts the conversation to Josh’s plan to get funding for tree planting at Brookfield. He’s resistant when Beth wonders if talking about Bert might help. Finally he admits he’s worried he’s not cut out to be a nurse because he completely froze when Bert wouldn’t respond. Beth reassures him that he is a caring person, and will be a great nurse.
