Religious faith has played little or no part in Brexit discussions, and yet it continues to play a significant part in the lives and politics of people living on the continent. Roy Jenkins talks to four people in key positions with four very different perspectives on religion in Europe. In Paris Professor Andrew Hussey comments on the clash between Islamic extremists and France's strict division between the sacred and the secular. Anthony Peck of the European Baptist Federation comments on some of the fascinating areas of growth in the movement, partly stimulated by migration. At the South West tip of Pembrokeshire the Very Rev'd Sarah Rowland-Jones, Dean of St Davids, comments on Wales' very ancient connections with Europe. Finally, in Luxembourg Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich, President of the Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Union, comments on some of the accelerating changes affecting Europe, from diminishing congregations, to declining European influence in the world.
