Award-winning composer Martin Ellerby

Contests, soloists and many of the top bands around have all commissioned music from composer Martin Ellerby. He talks to Frank Renton about his career and his recent Iles medal.

Composer Martin Ellerby has just received the Iles medal which is awarded annually by The Worshipful Company of Musicians to a person who has made a significant contribution to the brass band world. Martin talks to Frank Renton about his distinguished career which has included commissions from the most prestigious contests, soloists and bands. Martin also looks back over his 7 year post as composer in residence for the Coldstream Guards and the many State and Royal occasions that he wrote for and he considers the role that his worldwide lecture tours have made in his musical life to date.
