Script

Good morning.Β

We often look at the battles that we face on a daily basis as being ones that are external to us.Β  But in actual fact the greatest battles we face are those from within, emerging from a misperception of ourselves.

Our view of ourselves and others, especially at times of weakness, can be very negative. When we find ourselves judging others negatively, it often comes from a tendency to judge ourselves with the same unfair level of criticism. We do so because, although we do not always like to admit it, we only see very negative things in ourselves and struggle to realise what is good.

We need to understand that, although we are imperfect and make mistakes, we must acknowledge that as the handiwork of God we are beautiful. We need to look at the beauty that is within ourselves by taking time to reflect on how God sees us as His creation.

In this week, having just celebrated the Feast of the Resurrection, we are reminded that God the Father loved humanity so much that He saw us worthy of the Incarnation, Crucifixion and Resurrection of His Son. When He looks upon us He doesn’t focus on our pitfalls but sees us trying to rise above and overcome them.

Lord we pray that today we feel the courage to raise our hearts in prayer to You in all points of weakness, that we may be able to see ourselves and others as You truly see us.

Amen
