Script
Good morning.
We prepared for months during Lent for Easter, and now that it has come and gone, many of us are dealing with a feeling of the dust having settled. The terrorist attacks that took place in numerous countries over the past weeks, including those against the Coptic Orthodox Christians in Egypt on Palm Sunday, have left some of us feeling that Easter has gone with little time for peaceful reflection.
While Easter has passed, we may feel inclined to merely get on with the rest of our lives, forgetting the wondrous event we have just celebrated and how we would like it to impact our lives. It is often quite natural for us, especially at times of crisis or intense focus, to make drastic decisions, choose a change of direction, or feel more conviction in certain areas of our lives; but it is equally natural for the effects of that to wear off over time. We only have to try to recall our New Year’s resolutions to realise that it doesn’t take long for us to forget promises we have made even to ourselves.
Let us not get swept away by the currents of the day, and forget that we are all here to positively impact the lives of others around us.Β We need to respond to our Godly calling to live out our lives to our greatest potential.
Lord, we pray that Your glorious Resurrection continues to live on in our hearts, allowing us to stand firm in our convictions so that we can be a source of light, hope and stability in a rapidly changing world.
Amen.
