Joanna Lumley joins Sarah Parish, Orla Brady, Sharon Small and Shelley Conn in Mistresses

Sarah Parish, Sharon Small, Orla Brady and Shelley Conn return for a new series of the popular drama that follows four friends supporting each other through the complexities of life.

Two years have passed and the once impenetrable bond between best friends Katie, Trudi, Jessica and Siobhan has been broken. As the girls gather together, it's clear things have changed dramatically – there's tension in the room and no happy greetings.

Six months earlier and Katie has returned from Australia after her relationship with Dan failed spectacularly. She hasn't really got her life back on track and she's lonely, although pretending she's fine. When her widowed mum, Vivienne, turns up on her doorstep after travelling abroad she's less than thrilled – the pair clearly have a frosty relationship and Vivienne's interfering doesn't make things easy.

Vivienne, meanwhile, sees Katie embarking on yet another potentially explosive and destructive relationship, but Katie refuses to listen to her mother.

Trudi's cake-making business has grown and it's taken over her life. Richard is now a stay-at-home dad and, with three teenage girls to keep in line, it's a tough job. Their relationship is struggling under Trudi's increasing workload so an offer from investor Chris Webb to buy the business is more than welcomed by Richard. However, Trudi won't even consider giving it up, causing Richard to confide in someone who could destroy everything.

Jessica, meanwhile, is desperate to have a baby. Having suffered a miscarriage 18 months ago she has had no luck since and it's made her realise what she really wants from life – a family. But, with Mark still recovering from bankruptcy, IVF looks an unlikely option – until he seeks a loan from a secret source close to Jessica.

Siobhan, on the other hand, is a happily single mum enjoying the quiet life with her daughter, Elsa. But when Elsa's father, Dominic, comes to visit from America, it's not just his daughter who's thrilled to see him. Siobhan comes across an engagement ring and is stunned at the thought that Dominic might propose. However, there's a huge shock in store that will change her plans entirely.

Katie is played by Sarah Parish, Trudi by Sharon Small, Jessica by Shelley Conn, Siobhan by Orla Brady, Vivienne by Joanna Lumley, Richard by Patrick Baladi, Chris Webb by Vincent Regan and Mark by Oliver Milburn.

Alfred Molina and Dawn French star in a new bittersweet comedy for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two
Alfred Molina and Dawn French star in a new bittersweet comedy for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two

Dawn French and Alfred Molina, two of the nation's best loved actors, star in this new six-part series focusing on the everyday, seemingly trivial trials and tribulations faced by a middle-aged married couple. The bittersweet comedy looks at how they get on in the first half an hour after walking through their front door.

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ for the Stevensons, on the surface at least, is a sanctuary of warmth, security ... and what can best be described as organised chaos. Dedicated botanist Roger is a highly principled man with a strong set of values, and an even stronger hatred of injustice. His enduring love for his wife is matched only by his passion for the seeds and saplings he nurtures in his work at the Winter Gardens. Meanwhile, Val, a food technology teacher at the local comprehensive, sees bringing her work home as a perk of the job. Together they settle in for the evening without ever exerting too much physical energy, devoting their lives to the ups and downs of everyday existence – which for them includes more than a few whimsical, and often erratic, flights of fantasy.

So, with the help of copious amounts of tea, the couple concentrate on the issues of the day – whether that's re-hanging the curtains or, as in this first episode, facing the "big drawer" in their quest for the elusive vacuum cleaner guarantee.

But, despite all their solidarity, is their happy marriage and united front against the rest of the outside world quite as solid as it seems?

Developed from an original idea by Dawn French, the series is written by Emma and Beth Kilcoyne (Dogtown).

Roger And Val Have Just Got In is simulcast on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ HD channel – the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's High Definition channel, available through Freesat 108, Freeview 50, Sky 143 and Virgin 108.

Lenny and Yuki go head to head for the JAFA scholarship; rumours of Zoe and Jordan's engagement fly around the ED; and Roxanne Pallett stars as the girlfriend of someone with vitiligo, in Casualty – The Enemy Within.

It's interview day for the JAFA Fellowship and Lenny is highly confident. However, he's furious to discover the Ludlow Foundation is refusing to compensate the Crypto virus victims, so decides to take the fight upstairs, until Jordan warns him that Robert is on the interview panel. After holding his own in the interview, Lenny finds his trust shattered when a patient disappoints him. The young medic has to decide whether to stick to his guns or succumb to Robert's offer to relinquish the proof of the cover-up in order to win the Fellowship.

Meanwhile, Zoe is both thrilled and perturbed to see Jordan so happy about her supposed pregnancy and desperately continues with her fertility treatment, despite the fact that it is making her unwell. She has dizzy spells throughout the day and eventually faints at work. Revived by a concerned Jordan, Zoe realises she's running out of time but can't see how to tell Jordan without ruining everything.

Arrogant DJ D-Ray is admitted to the ED with a skin complaint. Zoe discovers that he has vitiligo and that he's been having copious sun-bed sessions to cover up his whitening skin. Warning him that he could have the early stages of skin cancer, Zoe refers him to a specialist but, arrogantly, he tears the referral up in her face. When D-Ray's girlfriend, Leanne, arrives at the ED, D-Ray must decide whether to tell her the truth. But is their relationship only skin deep?

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ PARLIAMENT Saturday 31 July 2010

Peers Versus The People – The 1910 Elections

Saturday 31 July
8.00-8.30pm Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ PARLIAMENT

By 1910 Britain was on the brink of social change – and class war. Suffragettes were marching for the vote, the campaign for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Rule was stepping up in Ireland and the new Labour Party was winning the support of the working-classes.

Against this background, the elected Liberal government took on the entrenched might of the unelected House of Lords. And the monarchy was drawn into the constitutional conflict.

A year earlier, Chancellor Lloyd George had introduced the so-called People's Budget – with new taxes on the rich to help pay for social reforms and fund an arms race. In an unprecedented move, the Conservative-dominated Upper House had thrown out his Budget.

The Liberals had no choice but to take their case to the country and the stage was set for a bitter battle dubbed the "Peers versus the People". It would take two General Elections and many more Parliamentary conflicts before the House of Commons could finally assert its authority over the hereditary peers.

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Parliament recreates the drama of that year and those two general elections in Peers Versus The People, presented by Carolyn Quinn, combining the drama of election programming with modern interviews and archive contributions.

Sarah-Jane goes 10-pin bowling
Sarah-Jane goes 10-pin bowling

CBeebies favourite Sarah-Jane Honeywell continues in her mission to encourage youngsters to get off the sofa and get active this summer in high-energy series Mighty-Mites.

Encouraging children to get out and try something new – from go-karting to kite-flying and pond-dipping to pottery painting – in each episode, Sarah-Jane (Tikkabilla, Higgledy House) and excitable and inquisitive puppet Go-Joe take two children – the Mighty-Mites – on a journey to try an activity for the very first time.

This week's exciting activities include ballroom dancing, skiing, 10-pin bowling and go-karting.

On Monday, younger viewers can join in with all the steps and dance the Cha Cha Cha as Sarah-Jane takes Go-Joe and two young friends to a dance class. Together, today's Mighty-Mites, Casey and Daniel, go ballroom dancing where they learn the basic steps to a Cha Cha Cha rhythm before dressing up in costumes to perform together with the whole class.

Then it's time to head to the slopes with Tuesday's Mighty-Mites, Kai and Keileigh. Sarah-Jane takes everyone for a skiing lesson at an indoor ski slope and, at first, it's very cold and slippery. But, once they've all got their special ski clothes and boots on, they quickly start to learn the basics and have lots of fun.

Charley and Jodie are Thursday's Mighty-Mites, joining Sarah-Jane and Go-Joe to try their hands at 10-pin bowling at a bowling alley. Together, they learn about special bowling shoes, how to hold the ball and how to bowl it properly. But who will knock down the most pins?

The week comes to a close at the race track as Sarah-Jane, Go-Joe and the Mighty-Mites try out go-karting. At the track, Arther and Jessica put on special race suits and learn how to steer and use the foot pedal. They even get to ride on the big track with the instructor...

Big City Park Eps 1-5/26

New series
Monday 2 to Friday 6 August
9.00-9.15am CBEEBIES
1.00-1.15pm CBEEBIES

CBeebies viewers are invited to pull on their wellies, step outside and discover a green oasis in the heart of the city, in Big City Park, a new puppet and live action series for CBeebies which encourages children to discover the beauty of the great outdoors.

Filmed on location in Belfast's beautiful and bustling Ormeau Park, Big City Park is about the adventure of finding nature's hidden treasures. A celebration of the outdoors, the series captures the park through the changing seasons, be it rain, wind or shine – proving that there is "no bad weather, simply inappropriate clothing".

Sarah McCardie plays May the friendly park keeper, whose job is to look after everything in the park.

In each episode, May, along with Ruairi the mischievous and mostly helpful caretaker, Dara the streetwise city fox and Billy the excitable badger welcome a group of enthusiastic young explorers to the park for a day of treasure-hunting, game-playing and story-telling. Together, they let their imaginations run wild as they explore their surroundings, gathering the park's natural bounty for Ruairi's treasure chest.

"We may have an unpredictable climate but we want to encourage children to get out and about whatever the weather," says Controller of CBeebies, Kay Benbow. "Big City Park introduces children to the beauty of the great outdoors and proves that there are hidden treasures on everybody's doorsteps."

On Monday it's May the park keeper's first day in her new job. With the help of three young city children, Billy the badger and Dara the fox show May around her new workplace. Finding out about the birds of the park, the friends make a model bird of their own – Patrick pigeon – and place him in Ruairi's special treasure chest to remind them of all the feathery fun they've had.

On Tuesday, May and her team of young explorers listen to all the birds and animals who sing in the park. Dara is upset because she doesn't think she can sing, until her friends convince her that it doesn't matter how well you sing but how much fun you have doing it.

Ruairi and Billy are feeling the heat in Wednesday's episode of Big City Park, while May and the children prepare for a sunny day in the park – making sure they have lots of sun cream on, of course.

In Thursday's show, Ruairi shares tales about his time as a sea captain with his friends so they decide to go on a voyage of discovery of their own. Equipped with binoculars and magnifying glasses, they sail off around the park and discover a host of new things along the way.

In the final episode of the week, on Friday, May and the team have a woodland workout, discovering all the lovely, healthy activities and exercises that can be done in open spaces.

James Nesbitt (left), Minnie Driver and Goran Visnjic star in The Deep

James Nesbitt, Minnie Driver and Goran Visnjic star in this summer’s blockbuster series The Deep, a new and original thriller set thousands of feet below the Arctic ice.

Simon Donald's drama follows the crew of The Orpheus, an oceanographic submarine, as they search the final frontiers of Earth for unknown and remarkable life forms. The team onboard believe their findings could potentially lead to the next generation of bio-fuels, which could solve the energy crisis.

But before the ecosystem can be fully explored, a series of catastrophic events strikes The Orpheus. Hardly surprising given the environment – crushing pressure, boiling vent gases, freezing temperature gradients and total darkness. This is the deepest, furthest, loneliest place on Earth. The Lomonosov Ridge – an enormous tract of sea-floor – is a disputed territory. Nobody comes here.

However, it soon becomes clear that there’s more than just Mother Nature attacking them. There is someone else out there...

The last team who went – including Clem’s wife – died in mysterious circumstances, so the Orpheus crew are already feeling nervous when a salvage inspector unexpectedly joins their mission. What does he know about the lost crew, and who is he working for?

James Nesbitt (Occupation, Murphy's Law) stars as Clem Donnelly, alongside Minnie Driver (Circle Of Friends, Good Will Hunting) as Frances Kelly and Goran Visnjic (ER, Welcome To Sarajevo) as Samson Ungliss.

The Deep is simulcast on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ HD channel – the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's High Definition channel, available through Freesat 108, Freeview 50, Sky 143 and Virgin 108.

ADULT SEASON
Baby Beauty Queens – Chloe Ep 2/6

Tuesday 3 August
8.30-9.00pm Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ THREE
Freestyle dancer Chloe
Freestyle dancer Chloe

The extraordinary and uber-glamorous world of freestyle dancing takes the spotlight in the second episode of the series exploring the pressures on young people to grow up too quickly in image-obsessed Britain.

Chloe, 11, has gained much-needed confidence in a world where wildly flamboyant costumes sparkle with thousands of diamante diamonds and cost up to Β£2,000 apiece. Living with her mum and younger sister, Daisy, in Northern Ireland, Chloe has been bullied about her weight since she was six and has suffered serious confidence issues. Now she's just started secondary school and, although she's much happier, the name calling hasn't quite gone away.

Through all this strife the only thing that has kept her going is dance. Freestyle is the fastest-growing form of dance in the UK at the moment; it takes place in dance halls and town halls all over Britain and Northern Ireland. A glamorous form of dance, freestyle is a highly physical mix between rave and Rio carnival where the contestants wear exaggerated make-up and sport dark tans to get noticed on the floor.

Chloe started dancing five years ago and it gave her a place where she felt free, safe and able to dance out all her frustrations. She's also really quite good and has amassed more than 200 trophies. The only thing she hasn't done is dance at Champ level, in which contestants must dance alone in front of the judges in the final. So far, Chloe has always felt too awkward to step out on the floor with all eyes on her.

This film follows Chloe as she tries to overcome her self-consciousness in order to impress the judges in one of the most looks-conscious dance scenes in the world.

"I used to think about my appearance and the names people called me at primary school – fat, ugly... I had no confidence in myself," says Chloe. "Now I think it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, I think I look good and I feel good about myself."

The series forms part of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three's Adult Season, exploring the pressures on young people to grow up quickly, and what it means to be an adult in Britain today.

Last year's Adult Season brought the channel the best two weeks' viewing figures in its history among its target audience of 16- to 34-year-olds, reaching 45 per cent of this audience and 18.5m people overall. The season website was also one of the strongest for the channel, peaking with 37,000 unique users. It also proved popular on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ iPlayer, with four of the programmes from the season featuring in the Top 20 during the weeks of transmission.

Alicia Douvall's relationship with her daughter, Georgia (left), comes under the spotlight

Tabloid favourite and glamour model Alicia Douvall is rarely out of the papers. However, there is one aspect of her life which doesn't feature heavily in the headlines and that is the relationship she has with her daughter, 14-year-old Georgia. Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three's Adult Season continues tonight with Glamour Models, Mum And Me, and asks what life is like when your mum is Alicia Douvall.

At 14, Georgia is a hard-working, studious academic who has come to a crossroads in her life, having to decide which path to take – studies or celebrity. While Alicia instinctively sees a career path similar to her own in the modelling industry as best for her daughter, Georgia's godfather, Paul, tries to instil in her the need for a full, balanced education so that she can decide her own future.

Tonight's film follows mother and daughter on an eventful trip to the USA during Georgia's half-term break. When Alicia unexpectedly suffers a problem with her breast implant on the flight, however, the plans for shopping and relaxation on the beach are put on hold while they track down a plastic surgeon to perform an emergency operation.

Georgia ends up spending her holiday in a succession of waiting rooms, trying to teach herself trigonometry and the other classes she is missing, while looking after her mum as she recovers post-op.

The pair share a warm and unique bond and Georgia explains what life is like growing up with a mum under the intense scrutiny of celebrity culture and how this influences the decisions she makes as she continues her journey to adulthood.

Clare Balding continues her journey around Britain By Bike
Clare Balding continues her journey around Britain By Bike

Clare Balding continues her journey in cycling author Harold Briercliffe's wheel tracks on the Isle of Wight, where she discovers the rich history of influential visitors to the island.

Arriving by ferry from the mainland, Clare's two-wheel expedition, guided by Briercliffe's The Cycling Touring Guides, begins at Shanklin – one of the many genteel resorts which made the island a Victorian Riviera.

She explores its reputation as a place for alternative thinkers, revolutionaries and artists – such as Darwin, Dickens and Tennyson. It was also a refuge for royalty – Queen Victoria spent summers at nearby Osborne House.

In Shanklin, Clare spots the house where Darwin sat down to write On The Origin Of Species. At Winterbourne, she seeks out the beautiful holiday home rented by Dickens, desperate to cure a case of writer's block with David Copperfield.

Next stop is St Boniface Down, the highest point on the island. Briercliffe described the site of RAF Ventnor's Second World War radar masts as a real eyesore.

Clare meets historian Simon Perry to hear the story of these extraordinary structures and the part they played in saving Britain from the German Luftwaffe. She then heads off to Ventnor and Undercliff where both Karl Marx and the young Winston Churchill had taken the air.

Dropping in at the Buddle Inn, described by Briercliffe as a "sophisticated roadhouse", Clare enjoys a refreshing drink before embarking on the final leg of her journey along the Military Road to Tennyson Down.

She meets an old friend – Elizabeth Hutchings – who explains that Tennyson wrote Crossing The Bar, his famous elegy, on the ferry from nearby Freshwater back to the mainland.

Britain By Bike is part of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Four's season celebrating the outdoors – The Call Of The Wild.

NORMAN SEASON
The Normans – Men From The North Ep 1/3

New series
Wednesday 4 August
9.00-10.00pm Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TWO (Schedule addition 20 July)

Professor Robert Bartlett journeys from Great Britain to Jerusalem, via the Kingdom of Sicily, in this major series examining the extraordinary expansion and unchecked ambition of the Normans. He draws on Anglo-Saxon chronicles, medieval manuscripts and some of the most powerful examples of Norman architecture in an epic sweep of the period of Norman supremacy. And he reveals how their impact is still felt in today's culture and politics.

In the first episode, Bartlett explores where the Normans came from and how they developed into the formidable force that conquered England in 1066. He tells how, under the leadership of a Scandinavian giant called Rollo, these descendants of the Vikings first established themselves in northern France and became an unstoppable force of Christian knights and warriors. They also established themselves as master-builders of Christianity, with the construction of extraordinary cathedrals across Normandy.

With the birth of Duke William "the Bastard", the Normans' time had arrived. Having conquered the provinces around Normandy, this ruthless but skilled warrior and politician turned his attention to England. He claimed to have been promised the throne by Edward the Confessor – a claim supported by the Bayeux Tapestry, one of the most extraordinary records of the medieval world.

However, when Edward the Confessor died in 1066, William's arch-rival, Harold Godwinson, took the English crown for himself. William raised a mighty invasion force and sailed across the Channel. On the morning of 14 October, the English army, under King Harold, met the Norman army just north of Hastings. By the end of the day, the Anglo-Saxon world had come to an end. The future belonged to the Normans.

The Normans is part of a Norman Season on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, including: The Domesday Book, presented by Dr Stephen Baxter; Norman Walks With Dan Snow; The Stones Of Rosslyn, an exploration of one of the most famous medieval chapels in the world; a look at the art of the Anglo-Saxons with Dr Janina Ramirez; and The Making Of King Arthur, in which poet Simon Armitage reveals the greatest masterworks of Arthurian literature.

Working in partnership with more than 20 heritage and history organisations, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Learning's Hands On History offers a range of events and activities as part of the Norman Season, including Norman walks. Hands On History aims to increase knowledge and develop basic history skills amongst a family audience. See bbc.co.uk/history for details.

Tensions rise between Bob and Christine (Mark Heap and Ruth Jones)

Tensions are rising among the hedgerows of southern England, as Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Four's new comedy following the hikes, heartaches, friendships and rivalries of a misfit rambling club, written by Andy Riley and Kevin Cecil, continues.

The freakishly over-organised Christine is now deputy leader of the Mid-Bucks Walking Club. Bob thinks he can handle this threat to his authority, saying: "She's Amanda Holden, she's Nick Clegg, she's the white-haired woman who used to sit next to Alan Sugar. We all know where the power really lies." But soon Christine is winning the hearts and minds of the group; especially Bob's best friend, Tom.

Meanwhile, stressed businesswoman Sophie makes a desperate leap on Victor, the 17-year-old geek. It's very important that her husband, Joe, doesn't find out about this or Victor may never see 18. Bob's daughter, Hazel, must help him cover it up by any means necessary.

On top of all this, the group must face down the rambler's worst enemy; a farmer who keeps blocking public rights of way. Will this make allies of Bob and Christine, or will it all end up in a big fight in a field? With the unpredictable Tom around, either – or both – might happen.

Christine is played by Ruth Jones, Bob by Mark Heap, Tom by Steve Edge (Phoenix Nights), Sophie by Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd), Victor by Joe Tracini, Joe by Steve Wight and Hazel by Gwyneth Keyworth.

The Great Outdoors is simulcast on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ HD channel – the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's High Definition channel, available through Freesat 108, Freeview 50, Sky 143 and Virgin 108.

Richard Hammond's Blast Lab Ep 4/13

Wednesday 4 August
5.15-5.45pm CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ

Richard Hammond makes some directory enquiries this week when he uses old phone books to help demonstrate friction, as he presents another dose of the scientific game show.

Mini Miss (Richard's 65-year-old former science teacher who is now stuck as a 10-year-old due to a failed time-travel experiment) pits the Bro Busters against the Supreme Experimentors in the Mini Science game. The teams take it in turns to hang objects from two small interleaved phone directories, hung from a frame by a coat hanger on the lowest of the two books. The team that causes the book to fall loses.

Out in the field, the Lab Rats have lined up another supersized experiment in which they attempt to lift a car off the ground by using two interleaved directories. Can Richard convince the studio audience and the viewers at home that his scientific sidekicks' endeavours will be a success?

Matt Allwright exposes more cons and tricks to trap the unwary tourist

Matt Allwright sends a British family undercover to a four-star, all-inclusive hotel in Turkey to investigate the hotel's facilities, as Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One's consumer holiday series continues.

In just a few days, these Secret Tourists are less than impressed by the poolside safety, particularly after their son cut his foot while walking there. They are also disappointed with the standard of the restaurant, dubbed the "chicken club" by other guests, for its repetitive menu.

The series' environmental health expert, Dr Lisa Ackerley, joins the family at the hotel to collect some samples for testing. The results reveal high levels of bacteria in the food and levels of E.coli in the drinking water and ice. Armed with these findings, consumer champion Matt confronts the hotel manager about their discoveries. The manager does acknowledge the issues raised, but what will Matt find when he re-visits the hotel to see if any improvements have been implemented?

Reporter Carole Machin meets a Brit who was injured in a scooter accident in Koh Samui in 2008. She then goes to Thailand to investigate scooter hire companies there. She conducts an undercover survey of 10 hire companies, checking their practices against laws set out by the Ministry of Transportation. Unfortunately, she makes some worrying discoveries which she sends on to the Thai Police and Thai Embassy.

Using hidden cameras and an actor posing as an official concierge, Matt sets up a luggage theft scam to highlight how trusting tourists can get caught out. And he sets up a restaurant from hell to show unsuspecting customers how some establishments add hidden extras to the bill, including charging for outside seating and using two different menus with different pricing, so travellers will be better prepared and hopefully avoid getting conned themselves.

Tom (Roger Lloyd Pack) and Roy (Clive Swift) vie for Sally's (Jane Asher) affections

A visit to the hospital gives Tom and Roy the perfect excuse to do battle for Sally's affections when she is called in for a knee operation, as the comedy series about two elderly delinquents continues.

Sally needs a favour from the guys: to escort her to the hospital when she has a knee operation. It's a favour they are only too happy to help with. The old guys immediately set about organising a visiting rota between them so as not to leave Sally alone, and press her for the best hospital gift she'd like during her stay. Sally is only too keen and readily nominates acceptable presents.

Meanwhile, Tom falls in love with halloumi, his latest food dependency introduced to him by local deli owner, Rajan.

As promised, Roy and Tom dutifully deliver an already-nervous Sally to the hospital, where her anxiety is not helped by the laid-back attitude of the very young-looking doctor assigned to her case. Convinced he is too young and probably sleeps in an incubator, Sally is worried that he might operate on the wrong knee – prompting the old guys to take things into their own hands to ensure that does not happen.

Roy, disgruntled that his local bookshop doesn't have the title Sally subtlety requested for her stay, spots an opportunity to get one over on Tom in his bid to win Sally's affections and sneakily pinches it from another patient. Not expecting to get found out, things start to go from bad to worse for Roy who finds himself adopting a strong Scottish accent. Meanwhile, Tom becomes the centre of attention in a student case study.

Tom is played by Roger Lloyd Pack, Roy by Clive Swift and Sally by Jane Asher.

Kirsty Wark and Dan Cruickshank present The Great British Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Movie Roadshow

Those who thought that shooting video themselves and showing it off on YouTube was a new thing would be wrong. For a hundred years the British have filmed their own lives on their own cameras.

The Great British Movie Roadshow, presented by Dan Cruickshank and Kirsty Wark, with advice from film experts Robin Baker and Binny Baker, aims to seek out 100 years of Britain's home movies.

Appealing for people to send in their favourite pieces of home movie footage, an expert team of film historians has pored over public submissions along with amateur films already held in the nation's archives. The team also takes to the road in a specially constructed cine bus to hear about the films in person.

The stories in this programme include: a trip on the Roadshow bus to Bradford to see a recording of a young Princess Diana; a fantastic record of the last 50 years of Chingford in east London; what is believed to be the very first wedding video, shot in 1905 on the Isle of Bute; and the intimate home movies of the late Spike Milligan.
