Wimbledon 2008

Introduction

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's all-encompassing coverage of Wimbledon 2008 at SW19 will be in full flow from 23 June to 6 July 2008. Tennis fans can follow the action on television, radio, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ website, their mobile phone and, if they miss anything or simply want to watch again, on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ iPlayer.

Μύ

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sport is the All England Lawn Tennis Club's Host Broadcaster, and will provide all television pictures from Centre and No.1 Courts in HD (high-definition) for the third year in a row.

Μύ

Television

Μύ

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sport's television coverage will be available for the first time on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ iPlayer for fans to watch again or catch up with any action they have missed. Today At Wimbledon will be available for seven days after it has been broadcast, and can be found at bbc.co.uk/iPlayer.

Μύ

Sue Barker will present live daytime and evening coverage on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two. The daily highlights show Today At Wimbledon will be presented by John Inverdale on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two at 8.00pm each weekday.

Μύ

There will also be an HD broadcast of Wimbledon for the entire two weeks, with 11 hours of coverage per day with the best play from Centre and No. 1 courts, available on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ HD channel.

Μύ

Tim Henman joins the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ team for the first time, and will work as a commentator and studio analyst alongside the existing line-up.

Μύ

The top-quality team also features John McEnroe, Boris Becker, John Lloyd, Greg Rusedski, Andrew Castle, Tracy Austin, Virginia Wade, Chris Bailey, David Mercer, Peter Fleming, Barry Davies, Mark Cox, Simon Reed, Chris Bradnam, Matt Chilton, Annabel Croft, Liz Smylie, Sam Smith, Jo Durie and Louise Pleming.

Μύ

Mark Petchey will be joining the TV team once again, and Jason Goodall will again be providing the Hawk-Eye analysis.

Μύ

For the second year at Wimbledon, Hawk-Eye will be used as an official umpiring tool on Centre and No. 1 courts and, as a result, Cyclops will not be in operation.

Μύ

Interactive TV

Μύ

Interactive TV will offer a choice of up to five live matches. When there is coverage on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two, Freeview will offer a choice of four extra matches.

Μύ

A digital text service will also be available with news and score updates.

Μύ

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sport Website

Μύ

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sport's website at bbc.co.uk/tennis will have live streaming and on-demand highlights. Interviews from the television coverage will also feature, and there'll be live scoring.

Μύ

Μύ

The latest Wimbledon news and video masterclasses will be available direct to mobile phones. Viewers can text TENNIS to 81010 to receive a link to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's tennis site. It costs 10-15p to text the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ.

Μύ

Clare Balding will commentate on tennis for the first time, and Jonathan Overend leads the commentary with Alistair Eykyn, Iain Carter and David Law. Μύ

Multi-platform content and interactivity is a key part of the 5 Live offering and there are several extras on offer at Wimbledon.

Μύ

John McEnroe's popular Six Love Six phone-in on both Tuesday nights of the tournament will be available to watch via Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Interactive under the red button. This enables the audience to oversee the great man umpiring people's calls, emails and texts as they get their tennis issues off their chest.

Μύ

Australian tennis legend Pat Cash joins forces with American former bad boy of tennis Jeff Tarango for Tarango And Cash – The 5 Live Wimbledon podcast.

Μύ

Available for daily download at bbc.co.uk/5live, this will be the definitive guide to the big stories of the day, top guests and interviews, plus Pat's and Jeff's own take on the tournament as they are let loose across the grounds.

Μύ

Also available to download each day will be Simon Mayo's regular podcast, the Daily Mayo, which will be packed with content from the courts and the best guests throughout the tournament.

Μύ

Photos taken from around Wimbledon will be posted on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sport Wimbledon Flickr group. Users can add their own pictures, and those who didn't get tickets can send pictures of their Wimbledon.

Μύ

There will be additional daily video content focused around 5 Live's coverage of Wimbledon including behind-the-scenes action, plus tennis discussion with top names on the 606 forum and regular updates on the 5 Live Twitter.
