The Passion

Μύ

This new production of the story of The Passion for Easter 2008 is a bold event drama retelling the last week in the life of Jesus Christ, written by Emmy Award-winner Frank Deasy and developed by Nigel Stafford-Clark (Bleak House).

Μύ

Joseph Mawle, James Nesbitt, Paul Nicholls, Ben Daniels, Laura Fraser, Denis Lawson and David Oyelowo lead the cast in this unique and compelling dramatisation. The Passion will run across Easter week, drawing to a dramatic climax on Easter Sunday.

Μύ

Visually arresting and rich in colour, the story is rooted in the tangled and chaotic world in which it took place – the city of Jerusalem during Passover week. Set in the political and religious context of the time, it combines both narrative tension and thematic power to convey the extraordinary events that took place that week in a bold and distinctive way.

Μύ

This version places the audience at the heart of the action by telling the story from three points of view: the religious authorities, the Romans and Jesus. For the first time, all the key players are intimately characterised, with Jesus at the centre. Beginning with Jesus's prophetic entrance through the East Gate, the production follows him to his crucifixion and its startling aftermath.

Pope John Paul II – The War Years

Μύ

This is the remarkable story of the five years which transformed the life of Karol Wojtyla – the man who would become John Paul II – and set him on the path to the Vatican.

Μύ

Karol was 19 when the Germans invaded Poland in September 1939. He had no intention of joining the church but the devastating experience of Nazi occupation led him first to join the underground resistance and then to risk his life studying in secret to become a priest.

Μύ

Interviews with all the key survivors from the period who knew him well and the Pope's own writings are combined in a powerful drama-documentary which tells the story of the young John Paul II's coming of age, his brushes with death and the horrors he witnessed that helped to shape his thinking.

Sense And Sensibility

Μύ

David Morrissey, Dominic Cooper, Dan Stevens, Mark Williams, Janet McTeer and Mark Gatiss lead an all-star cast in Andrew Davies's romantic, witty and stylish new three-part adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense And Sensibility.

Μύ

Sense And Sensibility is a story of two young sisters on a voyage of burgeoning sexual and romantic discovery. Restrained, rational Elinor Dashwood and the wildly romantic, impulsive Marianne Dashwood are played by newcomers Hattie Morahan (Elinor) and Charity Wakefield (Marianne).

Μύ

The death of their father throws their privileged world into chaos. With no entitlement to his estate, they are forced to live in poverty. Although the sisters' chances of marriage seem doomed, attractive men are drawn to Elinor and Marianne.

Μύ

Elinor becomes attached to the highly eligible Edward Ferrars (Dan Stevens, The Line Of Beauty) – but why is he so guarded and secretive? Marianne attracts both war hero Colonel Brandon (David Morrissey, State Of Play) and glamorous, Byronic Willoughby, played by Dominic Cooper (The History Boys).

Μύ

But do these attachments represent true love, or are the men simply amusing themselves with the young heroines? With a sub-plot that features the seduction and abandonment of a 15-year-old schoolgirl – not to mention a duel – the stakes are high.
