Lee Ingleby as Sean

The Street - a new drama for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ ONE

Lee Ingleby plays Sean

One of life's bullies, Sean thinks the world owes him a favour. He lives unhappily with wife Yvonne (Christine Bottomley) and their three children in broken domesticity. While Yvonne struggles to conceal the marital abuse, he struggles to conceal his temper, in the final episode of Jimmy McGovern's new drama series.

Μύ

"Sean has a bad temper and is a very angry young man," says Lee Ingleby who plays the bully who hits his wife, Yvonne. "He is an extremely jealous and possessive guy which leads to his bouts of violence.

Μύ

"I think he is extremely unpredictable and she's quite fearful of him, and I think more so when he has had a drink because that's when he becomes dangerous," continues Lee recently seen in the hit police drama series Life on Mars.

Μύ

"Yvonne knows how to handle him at other times, but she also knows she can't push him too far that's when the violence kicks in.

Μύ

"What comes through in this episode is that it is seen through the eyes of his eight-year-old child and how slowly overtime she becomes to fear her father as well.

Μύ

"Even though he would never touch his children, I think she starts to fear for her mother's safety, and for that to come through in a child's eyes – is scary really.

Μύ

"I went about my research by looking at the Internet. It's surprising how many people will stay within the relationship, perhaps having less money or support is scarier than a weekly beating so to speak. I think with a topic like domestic violence it's not black and white, it's different in each relationship.

Μύ

"This project was one of those jobs that I had to get," continues the 30-year-old Burnley born actor.

Μύ

"The piece just exploded in your face from the script– how simple and beautiful it was even though some of the issues are difficult. I think some people would step away from putting it on television. So it's refreshing when projects like this comes along."
