Divorcing the offspring by Ann Colton

The bedroom odoured their epic habitation
'so yesterday clothes' peep through
black refuge sacks that
knowingly wink back.
I play musical chairs with the divans to
shroud the war years.
Loneliness grips my breath as
it steers me over post fear.
My extensions, my offspring, gone to
embrace life
without the white stick
re-assuring as feelers of pain.
