    As sleet and icy roads are set to appear overnight, Transport for London has revealed its plans to keep the capital city moving.

    They are:

    • 39 road gritters and gritting quad-bikes and trucks to help keep roads and pavements clear on the 580km of key roads in London
    • Cycle lanes will be looked after by dedicated cycle route grit spreaders
    • On the Underground, de-icing trains will run overnight to keep the tracks clear
    • Points heaters will look after the Tram network, and out of service trams will run through the night to keep the overhead electrical lines clear of snow and ice
    • On the Overground, trains that are fitted with de-icing tanks will be in operation
