Concert Information
Finnish female conductor Dalia Stasevska makes her debut with the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Symphony Orchestra at the Â鶹ԼÅÄ’s iconic Maida Vale Studios for orchestral music by Sibelius, Stravinsky and Rautavaara.
Opening the concert, Sibelius’s famed Finlandia was written in 1899 to represent the struggle of the Finnish people against censorship. Fellow Finnish pianist Olli Mustonen joins the Â鶹ԼÅÄ SO for the UK premiere of Rautavaara’s Piano Concerto No. 3, a work that he has championed since its composition in 1998. Stravinsky’s symphonic poem Le chant du rossignol, adapted from his earlier opera based Hans Christian Andersen’s tale The Nightingale and later turned into a ballet, ends this programme of evocative orchestral music.
This concert will be recorded for future broadcast on Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 3.
Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that as not everyone who asks for tickets uses them, to make sure we have a full house we send out more tickets than there are places. We do our best to get the numbers right, but unfortunately we occasionally have to disappoint people so please arrive early.
