Frances has over 25 years’ experience in the not-for-profit sector, starting in arts and culture and moving into international development in 2010. As CEO of FIGO Frances heads a federation of over 135 national organisations - the leading global voice for women’s health and rights. She has worked in the UK, Eswatini and Afghanistan.

Her career started in arts and culture, with roles at the British Film Institute, London Film Festival, Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre and as CEO of Midlands Arts Centre in Birmingham. Since moving into international development in 2010 her roles have included Director of Communications and Brand at Unicef UK, Executive Director of Programmes and Policy at CARE International UK and Chief Executive of Amref Health Africa UK. She was the first female CEO in ActionAid UK’s 50-year history.
Frances is a board member at the grant-making Joffe Charitable Trust and sits on the University of Oxford Social Sciences and Humanities Research Ethics Committee. She has a Masters in Development Studies from SOAS.
