A small gaffe by Nick Clegg in the AV debate today. He was asked whether, as part of the government's big cull of quangos, they were planning to get rid of the Electoral Commission.
"No we're not," the deputy prime minister replied, "at least not at present".
Oops.

One presumes, not retroactive, in a few wrongs don't make a right sense.

"We have not ruled anything out but we are not considering it at the moment", is a perfectly normal and sensible stance to take on all government spending. And the Electoral Commission didn't exactly cover itself with glory at the last election.
