Thank You Life

Chris Evans | 06:29 UK time, Tuesday, 24 August 2010

There was a big old full moon hanging in the sky to greet me when I took the dog out for a wee at quarter past four this morning. There it was, effortlessly lighting up the world like a huge glowing street lamp. Truly so big and so low, I was mindful not to bump my head on it, whilst also thinking what a marvellous testament it is to remind us of the beauty and simplicity of life.

You may have to pay Β£32million to hang a Van Gogh on your wall, but you get the heavens, far more breath taking, wondrous and magical all for free.

On a more earthly note, I watched the film Milk last night. Now there's a movie. . . right there. "My names Harvey Milk and I'm here to recruit you"!!!

Also had a cheeky Monday night curry, which didn't seem quite as good an idea when I woke up with heartburn at half past two. I had a pal who was so paranoid about acid indigestion, that he would put crushed up Gaviscon on his food whilst he was eating it. I'm not quite there yet, but I fear I may be on my way.

Hiya - I missed the moon last night, but the sun rising over London is a great sight - the city looks so much better in the sun!

Thanks for all the good wishes - I am feeling much better - just havent bounced back this time, I seem to have lost my tigger bounce but I'm sure its just hiding, besides I am an important business woman these days - can't be seen to be too bouncy (ohh err).

JG - if you are in the area we would love to meet up - the papermill is one of the places Mr bp first took me when we were just friends (a great view of the M40) and it would be great to meet you.

Where have all the men gone? Rips/ Ginge/ Matt/ Andy ??

You are missed - we need more lists and top tens -

(Thunder I know you've been around, hi to you)

    Morning Christoff et al

The moon was simply stunning, and yes, I did turn my money over. Don't know what that's all about, but my dear departed mum used to do it.

Pen, who can't beat a bit of T Rex in the morning, just love it xx

Pen, I know that got me jiggling on the sofa too!

Baggy, you sound a bit more chipper today dearly

Bingo, you definately do spread 'appiness and make me smile

Morning all. We're fortunate enough to overlook the sea and last night the moon was so bright it looked like torchlight on the water - it was stunning.

The sun's shining here in Kent so let's hope it stays warm and dry for a bit longer ... have a good day one and all.

Couldn't see the moon where we are as the rain was obscuring it!

    Another monsoon here this morning.

Baggy - glad to see your feeling better, hope that bouncy fun, fun, fun is back soon.

I'm not really here as still trying to catch up from the 3 weeks off from the hand op.

    Cheers

  • Comment number 12.

Hi Chris: how I love looking at the moon too. And the stars - they are all a bit of a miracle really, but we don't always have time to really appreciate what we have.

As for indigestion, I am only too well aware of the misery it can be. I have long said goodbye to bacon, fried eggs, and pastry. The agony is just not worth it!

Hi to everyone else - hope everything is ok. Thanks to everyone for your comments re: the shower problem, which I hope will be fixed today.

    aokay: very eloquently put!

Keith: yes, I hope things get sorted soon - don't want to lose all my friends!

    Annie: love the word plodging!

Debs: I was happy to help!

MC: re: shopping - me too. I can never go into a shop and just buy what I intended to buy. Funnily enough, I find that the person who used the basket before me invariably has left a bottle of wine in there, and it would just be churlish of me not to take it home!

JG: really thinking of you - it's obviously a tough time for you right now, and I hope it will pass soon. xx

Hope everyone else is ok - it is a really awful day here in Glasgow - pouring rain, and ruddy cold!

    C xx

  • Comment number 13.

Hi Chrissie, weather awful here too. Hope you enjoyed the wine.

    csn. xx

  • Comment number 14.

Chrissie and MC - re the shopping - of course you MUST take the previous persons wine and choccy - however, since I've been confined to barracks and been doing tinternet shoppy I find that never happens to me anymore! BUMS!

So just to be sure, I've just phoned a local "can only buy 12 bottles of wine at a time store" and asked them what I previously had in "my basket" - and do you know what there were 12 bottles in there! huzzah, so I am now awaiting delivery of the previous customers wine! Result! Party at mine everyone!!!

Andy, hope the hand is coping with being back in the office - make sure you use the other one to drink your coffee and eat your biscuits, you dont want to have a relapse!

Right off to tidy up before the cleaner arrives.....

  • Comment number 15.

CSN: hiya - yes, the wine was lovely!

Debs: excellent news on the wine front at yours! I'll bring the fairy lights and a couple of MrS's favourite CDs!

Re: tidying up for the cleaner ... just why do we do that?! I may have to invest in a cleaner - it would make me keep the place looking half-decent!

    C xx

  • Comment number 16.

Chrissie - I don't tidy up for the cleaner - in fcat it makes me lazier as she does a better job them me!

  • Comment number 17.

Back from our cross country trek to collect results and can breath a sigh of relief. 16 year old has got the grades he needs to go to his chosen college.

Chrissie, was it you that suggested the 'proud' oven cleaner thingy?

If so, I owe you a drink when I next see you.

Nearly 4 squidlies was quite a bit to fork out, but the results are astounding, and such a lot less work too.

Dont ask me what I did with the time I saved though, it just seemed to vanish like all weekend hours seem to!

Still, I am one of the lucky ones, that has a 3 day weekend to look forward to, that is after a visit to the dentisit myself on friday and then battling with the holiday traffic afterwards.

    Happy days all.

MTF - good news for GB, my GD did shocking in her AS's so RUDE awakening for her and nose to the grindstone if she is to salvage something next year.

Debs: I think you will find that you will see quite a difference in your GD in the coming year. MsS had the very same rude awakening and I think she got such a shock, I really didn't have to nag her at all. Now, she is attending college and even though she is madly in love with her gorgeous man, when she is home, she is in her room studying. Well ... in between texting said gorgeous man!

Andy, dont over do anything , isnt it amazing the stuff people leave when they know you will be back hey !

I never saw the moon last night. I shut the curtains very early as it was lashing it down and had been dark pretty much all day.

Bingo you are quite right I also believe the Economy is very fragile. You only have to see how few people are buying non esentials in the Shops. No wonder Travel Companies are going to the Wall.

Anyway, what really concerns me is while playing back the X Factor yesterday evening which I missed on Saturday. I was watching that strange woman crawling over the stage and a cat walks in the lounge. I scream, it jumps up on the Sofa and then scurries into the kitchen and jumps out of the window.
    Why do they do that?

  • Comment number 44.

    afternoon all, hope you're well?

Baggy my lovely, I'm here, I tend to just have a read every few days. I hope you're feeling 'chipper' again soon and back to the great Super BP/Elmlea I met in Reading a few years ago (with the scrummy gaby too!)

I spent a while yesterday reading back over old blogs following Tims link, it was March/April 2007 and was a great read. Chris' posts were much longer back then as he was single and appeared to have much more time on his hands. The replies were really well thought out and got the ol' grey matter ticking over too. Was brilliant to see some old bloggers on there as well as those that are still her today.

I really must make more of an effort to take a minute and blog each day in future.

On leave from work at the mo', not upto much this week but going to France on sat to spend a week in an old farmhouse with MrsW, the kids and my parents. can't wait. Never been to this part of France before either. It's Gindou in the Lot region!

Wasn't the rain awesome last night? haven't seen it do that for years.

John: welcome to the blog. Join in, it's a great wee place!

Plumber Update: MrS called me to say that apparently the problem is coming from the seal round the bath. When the water from the shower is running against the wall, some of it is going through the seal, it would seem. Now, I do tend to clean round the bath quite vigorously with an old toothbrush, so perhaps I have eroded the seal a bit ... that'll teach me!

Will get a full update when I get home tonight, i.e. is there water between the floor and the kitchen ceiling?

It's been so cloudy here I haven't seen sight of the moon. I'm hoping that as we're now in a village with no street lights, we'll be able to see the stars more but we need a few good clear nights

The moon is so powerful, my friend's probably spent the last few nights looking after her son because he has fits and always has more at full moon

Just finished a fab book set in a good ol'southern USA town called La Luna! The moon exerts her influence over the people of the town and looks over them wherever they travel

Yes, 8yr old is a little petal. He's the red-haired one on my FB photies. He did so much research on the ipad before he got it he's become a whizz kid and is boring us all stiff explaining it to us.

I've always got so many books lying around, I think one of those e or i book thingys would be a boon - at least I wouldn't have to cart bagfulls to the charity shop.

Annie, don't we just love them all!

Winnie the Pooh books are great reading, at the moment here it's Noddy at bedtime.

I have just spoken to little boy, I only said two words to him then he said. Enough talking nanny!

    That made my day perfect!

Who are the children, them or us. LOL!

    Hi again

Job is still going well, I feel a bit under the spotlight but I suppose that is to be expected. I know that my colleagues are releived that they haven't had to train me too much.

I looked into the e-book thingy (ideal for taking on holiday) but apparently there are not many titles available yet- at least not the books that I want to read on hols.

Ah yes, we do indeed have a great deal to be thankful for in everyday life Christophe. These 'ere bloggers for one (well, more than one, but you know what I mean...).

Have the odd bout of indigestion myself, but I have to have the fruity tablets, can't be doing with the peppermint ones, they just make me feel sick!

CSN, hope the wine did the trick!

Debs, how are you getting on darling - up and about yet?

Chrissie, hope you get the shower sorted!

My nephew got his GCSE results today - 90 second conversation with him where I found out he didn't do very well ("a couple of Ds and a few Es") - oh dear!! I'll find out from his dad tomorrow - don't want to ring tonight as I can see the mood not being very good! On the plus side, my niece got into university :-)

And I'm afraid I didn't see last night's moon either - I live just down the road from Andy, so similar conditions :-( I only put away my winter clothes in early July, now they'll have to come out again... Still, Italy soon, so that's lovely 30 degree sunshine to look forward to!

    Hello to everyone xx

Evening all!!long time no blog from me! having a nice busy holiday one way and another but all good (except pre-teenage tantrums that seem to have started early in this house!).

Annie-g - assuming you haven't changed your BT password, there is a sticker on the back of the wireless modem thingy that has the key and password on it. i lost mine but happily someone pointed this out to me!!

CSN - i always have an anaesthetic at the dentist too, but i have a friend who plays the trumpet and he never has one - he reckons they are a lot more gentle when you don't have one - but i've never dared to try it!!

and i've just seen a thing on the website that says all tickets for the Show in a Field have gone - do you think that means just for tents or for spectators on the day?! didn't know i could ask for a ticket without a camping pitch!! maybe i won't just turn up - my kids won't appreciate getting up that early on a holiday day for no reason!! still i can imagine where they'll be - or i'll just sit on my friend's roof terrace with a pair of binoculars!! lol!!!

the moon here tonight is gorgeous - full and bright with a lovely haze around it!!

phew! that ended up a bit of a marathon!! but hope everyone's doing ok!

will try not to leave it so long next time!!

    Hi everyone:

Blog very quiet today - funny how that happens sometimes!

Baggy: I am trying to be grateful for what I have, too.

Miss P: nice to see you.

Andy: hiya - and I do believe that survey will be accurate!

    From last night:

Marjie: hope you won't need those boots any time soon!

007: good luck with getting back to your footie.

CSN: hope your mouth is ok today - horrible feeling when recovering from a filling.

mtd: glad to hear your job is going well.

MC: good for you going to the gym. I spent most of last night talking to MsS, and eating cheese & onion crisps!

Annie: that son-in-law of yours seems to have a wee wicken sense of humour!

AF: lovely to see you - how wonderful you have Italy to look forward to!

    Hope everyone else is ok.

CSN - hope numbness and pain are subsiding and all is ok with teeth again.

Baggy - indeed we should all be grateful!

MC - could you do a work out for me please?

AF - Italy and hot sunshine, lucky you! Me jealous, never!!

Annie - Son in law, funny!

Had a good evening last night - met with a friend for a nice meal and a good chin wag then drove the hour and a bit home to find GM was making my pack up!!

My favourite word at the moment, since moving and living with GM is home - brings a huge smile to my face every time I say it :)

Chrissie, so good she posted it twice!

just back from horpital, got boot cranked up again, ouchy till tendon gets used to it. Next week going to full extension and should be putting weight on it. Feel like there is light at the end of this tunnel now, looking forward to seeing the consultant on the 8th September to get a real sense of recovery programme/time.

So cold and wet here have put the oven on for a baked potato for lunch, no salad in this house today, no siree!

Right off to do ont line shopping - winter warming foods on the list I think!
