B L O G 375...............

Chris Evans | 15:31 UK time, Tuesday, 20 May 2008

Alright I admit it....

...I was on cloud nine, ten and eleven yesterday. I had such a blast at the weekend. A day, Sunday, I will never forget. I literally cannot stop thinking about it. I am, indeed, a very lucky boy.

I have realised only dreamers stand any chance of getting their dreams.

Dream away people, dream away.

Back to Planet Earth. Tash had my guts for garters this morning cos I hadn't sorted out my stuff for the move yet.

ME: "Well what day are the movers coming ?"

TASH: "Er, they're here now !"

ME: "D'oh."

    Okay.,

I last night I dreamt, that when I got home from work today, there was an envelope on the mat. It was franked from the Â鶹ԼÅÄ.

Inside was a cheque for £50,000 from Christof Evans himself and a wee note saying, "Thanks for listening, and thanks for reading and contributing to the blog". Here's a wee contribution straight back at ya to make your dreams come true."

    I can't wait til I get home.

    b) top gear call me up and offer me a job
    c) Johnny depp knocks on my door and invites me out for dinner
    d) Hamster invites me out for a bike ride on something big and fast
    or
    e) I hear the sound of little pink and white feet

I will only believe that you have to make your own dreams come true

DWNB - what if the envelope is sent recorded delivery? they'll redirect it to your local post office, and you'll have to wait x amount of days to pick it up. That would be terrible.

  • Comment number 13.

Aaargh!! DtM can't drive it on these roads!! - hopefully the new premises has its own race track or a very long windy in and out drive?CLP?
Always wanted one of those - in and out drive - up a long long long gravel driveway with a big fountain to drive round at the top and a house with steps up to the front door and pillars either side and and - dreamin now aint I??!!

    Beesmum xxx

  • Comment number 14.

Understand Croome Court is being renovated - that would do me nicely thanks - have to put the drive in though!!

    Beesmum xx

  • Comment number 15.

CLP and Tash could just sit in the car on the drive / in the garden and have a picnic. The food will majically taste better en route from kitchen to parked car as well- that's what happens to picnic food.

  • Comment number 16.

Quite reasonable price I thought? half a Ferarri!!

    Beesmum xx

  • Comment number 17.

Croome Court I mean!! Cash left over to put in the drive and fountain!

£5 million on a car? No wonder you are happy today!

Apologies to McCrumble for being a wee bit harsh. I did say, though, that I liked the image.

Any road up. Dreamers. Hurrah for dreamers, we all have our dreams and thank the lord for those with the courage to chase them.

One consistent criticism I used to get throughout my schooldays was that I was a dreamer. "Daydreaming" is a word which sed to crop up with alarming regularity. I could never really understand why this was such a problem since it never really held me back academically; nay, since I subsequently followed an artistic career I'd say it was pretty essential to my personality.

So indeed, dream on, chaps. And encourage your children to follow their dreams, too. It would indeed be a mundane life without them.

Just as the jet lag has been slept off - yes, you did read that right - slept, I go down with a cold.

    Or hayfever.

    Or Legionnaires'.

Something that is making me feel like poo anyway.

So what do I do? Have a hot toddy and an early night?

Nope. Play tennis. Yeah, yeah, I know and to serve (no pun intended) me right, I now feel like double poo.

We got some piccies from the auction through today, although I haven't seen them yet, and we have one of the purchases landing with us on Thursday. Not quite as expensive as Chris', but a hefty sack of cash worth nonetheless.

Naturally, I can say no more.

So who is going to The M on Saturday? So far, I can only see that Super BP is taking the plunge.

I'm off for a hot bath, a couple of chapters of Mr Deaver and, hopefully, a night undoing all the damage I have done on court this evening.

Hi me again - lazykev CLP gave Johnny a very nice cricket bat signed by england team 2003 I think anyway Alex Stewart was one of the names on it.

Chris I agree if you are giving things away could you spare something from TFI for Gingembre our lovely PC really needs a replacement TFI T-shirt and it would mean so much to him to receive something from you.

I've joined the FB Group and look forward to hearing CLP mention something at some stage.

    Morning one and all

I was quite shocked to read this

How can this be intelligent responsible reporting?
It refers to the Sarah Ferguson programme.

What an atrocious family. Lazy, untidy unkept spending money on fags rather than food and a dentist. Yet this lady reporter has a go at Fergie, with personal undertones.

I happen to think that Sarah Ferguson is a great character and was and still is a natural beauty.

    Good Moaning.

    coco

    well done

I am a supporter of the royals and it looks like they cannot win - they get basted when they don't work and they get basted when they do - what is a person to do.

Fergie knows about health and nutrition and stuff and she is aware of real life but some people don't want to know - twenty years ago the same people were laughing at Prince Charles for organic fruit and veg

the answer is - don't read the mail and by a real paper instead

    super bp x

I read the pink paper ;-)

  • Comment number 46.

    Toodle oo

  • Comment number 50.

    Coco and Debbie.

I absolutely agree on all counts. Mind you I think all the popular newspapers are tarred with the same brush and if nobody was interested they'd have to address the effect they have. Unfortunately, though, people are interested in this carcinogenic spite and blood-lust.

And it's not just the newspapers. As I speak, Renee is waiting to hear if she will go into hospital today or tomorrow and she has on the Jeremy Kyle Show.

I simply cannot express my disdain and revulsion, not just for the cannon-fodder people who they get to appear and air their disgusting linen to a national audience, but for the man himself..I can't find the words for someone who presents himself as some sort of social saviour when his basic intelligence surely tells him that these people cannot change the habits of a lifetime in a 10 minute TV show.

And the audience. Jeering and booing and shouting expletives, you know what it is don't you.

The Christians and the lions. We really haven't moved on. It's just that we can't get away in these modern times with physically killing each other in public; so we'll just watch each other being maimed instead.

Anyway as usual I'm on me soap-box bloody bless me, I tell you what. If only everybody in the world knew EVERYTHING like I do.......

And another thing. Is it just me or does that Foxy Bingo advert give you lot the ravin' heeby-jeebies too?

Honestly. When I've sorted Renee out I'm off to sit and watch the sunsets and rainbows in County Wexford and count me blessings.

    Clodagh.xx

P.s. Dustin the turkey. I'm not surprised, it wasn't that funny really. And I'm sorry to say that, being such a lover of everything Irish.

  • Comment number 51.

    Way-hey I feel better today :o)

Hmm agree about the papers. We've stopped buying them - we get the weekenders, but generally only for the magazines (and the sports section for the hubby, if it's got any rugby in it). Keep up with the news via the Â鶹ԼÅÄ website or the radio, but as it's mainly depressing stuff at least I'm not annoyed that I've paid to read the stuff. Not had a TV for over 7 years now, all the stuff we like watching you can use whatever catch-up things there are on the internet (and there's not that much really...) but it means we're not subjected to all the trash.

Now. Just got to make it through today without overdoing it, and then we'll see if I can make it through tomorrow as well. That'll be a first.

    xxjeni

  • Comment number 52.

    Moaning all,
I didnt see the Fergie program (not the kinda thing I'd watch by choice) but I did hear her defending Princess Bea for having a 'normal' figure (read: curvy feminine rather than stick insect) on the radio. Damn right, I think she's a really pretty girl and I hope she doesn't feel the need to drop to size '0' on the back of the tyrannical media 'thin is everything' message.

Wanted also to say hard luck to Somerset on the redundancy, unless you had wanted redundancy, in which case, Scored! Best of luck tho'

Agree w' clodagh re that bloomin turkey, its a pretty weak joke that's gone on too long and although it had novelty value, the Eurovision is ridiculous enough as it is, its the Kitsch value that we all tune in for anyway, in their own way they are all novelty acts. Im(h)o.

blimey I seem to have found a soap box too, I'll jump down and put it away now -promise x

    Good morning.

I was just thinking about Chris saying "only dreamers stand any chance of getting their dreams".

Only thing is, Professor Dumbledore said (in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone), "It doesn't do to dwell on dreams and forget to live".

I guess the thing is to use the dreaming as a catalyst for action in life rather than just wallowing about in dreams, hoping they will just come true of their own accord.

I'm not sure if I really know what I'm talking about.....

Dear AF, wishing you strength to get you thru these difficult days and weeks. In long illness cases, sometimes, when the gradual demise happens before our eyes, it's still a shock when they pass, but it's a shock we were getting ready for, so less of a whack in the windpipe than say 'sudden' or 'unexpected' death.
It will hit you, but in the meantime don't beat yourself up for not feeling bad enough about it - that will come.
In time though, 'sad loss' does become 'fond memory'. Truly. x x

Clodagh - best wishes to you and Renee - I agree that daytime tv rubbish talk shows even the US ones are bad. Mind you This Morning is excellent viewing if you have to stay indoors.

I also don't buy papers or magazines any more - I read online news and second hand magazines if I have to.

Last Wednesday you dedicated the show to anyone who had walked into a door .... on my travels south to Oban again, I texted you (safely ofcourse ... ahem) to say I'd been for a job interview at an alcohol rehab facility that morning and walked into a door frame. You and Sal concurred that I'd probably blown that one! Well ... I'm guessing noone saw it, because I got the job!! 4 months pregnant, with a bump the size of Mt Everest and they take me on!!!! We have this sign over our house with "sucker" written on it. So far we have been joined by two racing pigeons who were just too n***rd to go on - spent the evenings involved phoning half a million people to find out who they belonged to and had to wait while they travelled half way across the country to retrieve their birdies.
Also had a magpie which decided to skydive in to our pond - obviously hurt so off we went wrapped in best towel to the bird rescue - donation also gratefully received. soft or what?
Been watching the birdies collecting their nest building stuff (from the office) but last night when I went in to the house a baby bird was sitting on the windowsill not fluttering but just looking at me. Opened the patio door as far as it would go so it could see itself out whilst I locked up and put answer machine on. Came back downstairs - good 0 birdie gone. Locked up and went to post. Came back - said birdie was sitting back on windowsill - with a look that said where the heck have you been!!! Goodness knows where it had hidden itself. Opened window and it still sat there looking at me!!! However, after a good talking to from me - it just turned tail, hopped on open window and flew off!!

    Super bp.

Yes it was some random rubbish about re-discovering the old sewing skills; but I think I used an inappropriate word for shall we say teasing... been in Ireland too long, see, hahaha...anyway, it obviously offended someone and that's fair enough so I am duly rebuked and have washed out my dirty mouth bless me.

But it did make me think. When I noticed I'd been censored and therefore had caused someone to complain I was initially horrified and me stomach hit me boots; I felt really dreadful and a bit stupid there. So what on earth must it be like for people in the public eye who find themselves pilloried and censored for doing nothing more than walking around in public or venturing on to the beach?

It must be the most hideous experience; imagine having your picture splashed across the papers and magazines and on every shelf in the supermarket, newsagents or whatever; and there's nothing you can do about it.

All I can say is I'm glad I'm boring and of no interest to the press whatsoever.

I still feel a bit of an eejit, mind...

I love Fergie and I hate the Daily Mail, it's journalists seem to take a dislike to someone and then set out to destroy them.

Just been to the Boden Sale, sharing a communal changing room with a load of skinny posh birds doesn't do much for your self-esteem. Got a nice skirt and dress for £40 though, so it was worth it!

AF - so sorry to read of your loss, thinking of you xx

Susan - congratulations, wonderful news!! xx

When my lovely Dad passed on about 18 months ago after a short 'palliative phase' to his cancer I felt initially quite relieved he wasn't suffering anymore.

    alright flower...

...you grieve how you want. The way you feel will change daily, or even hourly. I still haven't had a good blah over my ex-wife who we lost in March to cancer. Our daughter hasn't cried at all apart from the funeral.
None of this means we don't care, everyone in the world deals with loss in their own way. None of it is right or wrong. I deal with grief in my job almost weekly and there's no 'book' to read or advice to take.

Just treasure your memories and talk to people if you want - I found a little post on here returned me so many positive vibes and good wishes that i was humbled by people's time they took to blog.

    Hello all.

    first off
(((((((((((((((Alright Flower))))))))))))))). I hope you can take some comfort from the fact that your mum isn't suffering anymore.

My dad died very suddenly and I didn't cry until about a week later when I saw a little girl crying in a supermarket after being shouted at. Floodgates opened.

Clodagh, hope Renee's recovering. Totally agree with you about weird bingo ad, horrid.

Hope everyone else is ok today. At least it's hump day.

Is there any news about Enzo?

    Alright FLower?

    Are You Alright? Flower?

So sorry for your loss. Is a pain that you can't describe.

I lost my dad...... wow 23 years ago..... I was much much too young, and so was he.

I comfort myself these days thinking that he'd probably die again from excitement at all the things that have been invented since he's gone. Sky Plus, CDs, Digital Cameras, Mobile Phones, Laptops...... Reality TV!

Also - I believe that he's flying around the sky right now as a hawk.... and much to the amusement of my husband and kids shout helooo out the window to everyone I see!

    Take Care.

    Afternoon each

Just a quickie (I'll catch up properly laters) but I've just had the best lunch hour ever! I met up with my best friends' ex-hubby. We were at school together and haven't seen each other for approx 16 years, until we bumped into each other a couple of weeks ago.

It's amazing how we mature as people, and what gets us to that place where we are now. Both he and I shared similar tragedies along the way but we agreed it's made us all the stronger and confident, and basically turned us into the grounded grown ups we are now.

My boss was kind enough to give me a little longer than an hour for lunch, so to just sit in the sun, over a baguette, catching up on 16 lost years, and more importantly to rekindle a teen/goth friendship has really, truly made my day.

    I'm smiling as I type!

Gosh - so excited... Just found out I've got an allotment. Now what!

The big question for all you green-fingered types out there is...

Having been away for a holiday, all the potatoes in my veg-rack have chitted. Can I use these in the all-new funky allotment or does it have to be special potatoes?

    All, any advices gratefully received.

Oh, and any suggestions as to what isn't too late to put in now also gratefully received.

    Lots of love
    A very excited JenEwan

PS Makes up for hearing I'm losing my [new] job in three months
