Summary of surface features of upland limestone areas

Description

A summary of the surface features of upland limestone areas with annotated examples of each feature. Limestone is a sedimentary rock laid down in horizontal beds. Crustal pressures have created joints in these beds. Erosion through weathering has created the surface features of scars, scree and limestone pavement. Limestone is soluble in acidic rainwater. It is a permeable rock, meaning water can pass through it.
