Developing etiquette

Approach: Rewards

By encouraging good sportsmanship and recording and rewarding players who demonstrate it, etiquette can be developed. When performers see the value of behaving correctly, behaviour often changes for the better. There is less evidence of arguing, disagreements and fewer examples of poor conduct. The coach or captain could keep a record of votes for the Most Valuable Performer (MVP) who has demonstrated good etiquette and encourage others to do the same.

For example, a coaching session could be delivered to teach players how good etiquette can calm nerves and encourage self control.
