Ceremony: Prose Medal

- 2008: Mererid Hopwood from Carmarthen won the Prose Medal in Cardiff. So far, Mererid has won the Chair, the Crown and the Prose Medal - the first time a woman has achieved this literary feat at the National Eisteddfod
- 2007: Mary Annes Payne from Angelsey was the winner of the Prose Medal at the National Eisteddfod in Mold
- 1978: Harri Williams won the Medal at the previous National Eisteddfod in Cardiff

Ceremony: Musician's Medal

- 2008: Hilma Lloyd Edwards of Pontnewydd, Caernarfon won the Chair at Cardiff's National Eisteddfod
- 2007: T. James Jones was the winner of the Chair at the National Eisteddfod held in Mold
The Chairing and Cardiff's National Eisteddfod
Gwilym R. Jones from Denbigh won the Chair when the Eisteddfod visited Cardiff in 1938. Interestingly, on the other two occassions when the National Eisteddfod was held in the capital, no one was worthy of the Chair, both in 1960 or 1978.
Useful information
The audience must be seated by 16.15 for the main ceremonies, and must remain in their seats until the ceremony comes to an end at approximately 17.30.
