1963: England's smallest gasworks

In Shipston-on-Stour, England's smallest gasworks is rumbling away, with one man producing gas for 150 locals. He lays mains, stokes the furnace, does the accounts and carries out inspections. Before nationalisation, he was also the owner.

Now, with the town being connected to the main grid, its 115-year history is finally coming to an end.
