1951: Winter Olympics ski team tests wind machine

The British Winter Olympic ski team didn't need to practice on a snowy mountain - problematic both from a geological and meteorological perspective. They had instead a fancy newfangled wind tunnel.

Sadly the best a British skier managed in Oslo the following year was a hardy 24th place.
