1951: Cornwall celebrates Festival of Britain
After the devastation and resulting austerity of the war years, the May Day celebrations in Padstow in Cornwall herald the start of the Festival of Britain, aiming to raise the nation's spirits whilst promoting the very best in British art, design and industry.
