2012: When Sir David Attenborough met Lonesome George

Sir David Attenborough twice met Lonesome George, the loneliest animal on the planet.

Until his death in 2012, Lonesome George was thought to be the last remaining Pinta Island giant tortoise and was an icon for conservation on the Galapagos islands.

Sir David’s second encounter with him was just 10 days before the tortoise died.

In his new Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ documentary, Extinction: The Facts, Sir David explores what biodiversity loss and extinction mean - not just for the planet but for us as a species.
