Chelsee takes us through some of the ways she's been boosting her daughter's communication skills.
The things that she comes out with, I'm shocked. I'm like "where have you heard that?"
Coco is a real chatterbox. I honestly have a better conversation with Coco than what I would with anyone my age. No, but honestly we can go into full blown conversations. I do find that the more back and forth that we have, and the more conversations we have, her speech is just amazing.
I think that's because I really engage with her. I always love to get on her level and just hear about what's on her mind and what she's thinking about. Babies are like sponges. We're always trying to build her vocabulary by talking about the world around us. There was a time the other day when we were colouring in flowers and she said "mummy, I'm going to do the middle bit yellow"and I said "yeah, because that's pollen" so as we're enjoying ourselves and doing activities, I'm also trying to teach her at the same time.
I always read with Coco every night and I feel like it really feeds her mind, and it calms her down as well. When I say "right, it's story time." We know then that it's chill time, bed time, relax and read a book.
Coco has got beautiful manners. Whenever she asks for something, she'll say 'please'. Whenever Coco says 'thank you', I always say 'most welcome' and she's started saying it back to me. "Most welcome mummy!" Hearing Coco copying what I say, honestly it is just everything. The amount that you put in, you get that back, and that is like the most rewarding thing ever.
