British folk dance

In this unit children will learn to listen and respond to the musical rhythms and phrasing. They explore appropriate actions and spatial patterns before memorising and performing short movement sequences. They learn the necessary social skills for folk dance by dancing together, relating to partners and performing in small groups. The emphasis is not on learning specific steps but more in responding appropriately and imaginatively within the conventions of the style.
