A group of young entrepreneurs want to start a new website to promote UK music.

They meet professional website designer Katherine Green to discuss their brief and then work to create an attention-grabbing and user-focused website.

They explore key aspects of design such as colour, fonts and layout, as well as the importance of integrating social networks.

This clip is from the series Making Media.

Teacher Notes

After coming up with a concept and a target audience for a youth entertainment website, students should plan a six-week schedule of content for one or more of the following elements to appear on the site: a blog, a podcast, a vlog to download.

This task will require a certain amount of brainstorming, so a mind map or spider diagrams may be useful.

Using the guidelines presented in the clip to help them, students should make sure their content is varied, as well as suitable for the target audience and brand they have created.

They could explain how often a new blog, podcast or vlog should appear on the site, and when it should be scheduled.

For a longer project, students could plan a social media marketing campaign to complement the content.
