Full sail for new shores: Sakari Oramo conducts Vaughan Williams’s A Sea Symphony, Britten’s Double Concerto and the London premiere of Oliver Knussen’s exquisite Cleveland Pictures.

The Â鶹ԼÅÄ Symphony Orchestra present an all-British Prom, with Elgar’s ‘Cockaigne’ overture, Holst’s Hammersmith and Vaughan Williams’s A London Symphony featuring alongside a selection of Stanford’s songs performed by baritone Christopher Maltman

Patricia Kopatchinskaja returns to the Proms to perform Schoenberg’s Violin Concerto with the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Symphony Orchestra and Finnish conductor Tarmo Peltokoski. We also hear Vaughan Williams’s ‘Greensleeves’ Fantasia and Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony.

An evening-long meditation on life and the hereafter, devised by Sakari Oramo and featuring the UK premiere of Kaija Saariaho’s astonishing final masterpiece Hush.
