Shrewsbury had enough chances to have won this game and a few others, but if you don't take your chances, especially in a cup tie, you tend to be punished.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson tells S4C's Sgorio: "I'm very pleased. It's a tough place to come.

"They pressed us really high in the first half, caught us out a bit but I felt we grew into the game and deserved the victory.

"They had a few chances at the end but it's a big day for us and an important win on the journey this club is on.

"We've made another statement. We've come to a solid League One club and won the game.

"Credit to Shrewsbury, it was a really hard game. We had to dig deep."

If you have a pot of luck in the FA Cup, Wrexham have dug deep this afternoon.

Shrewsbury would have gone in at half time feeling they should be in front, they had the two best chances, they were the better team and most of the game was played in Wrexham's half.

Then in the second half Wrexham started well the substitutions Sam Dalby and Ryan Barnett immediately contributed to the performance and Wrexham just grew.

Wrexham rode their luck on occasions but over 90 minutes just about shaded it.

It is the Welsh club through to the last 32.

Wrexham are through.

How has Taylor Perry not equalised? Oh my word.

What a chance he has missed.

Shrewsbury have lost their way, the Wrexham subs have come on and got straight in to the game, that's been the big difference.

Well, that’s changed the mood a little.

The noise is almost relentless at both ends but it’s still the Wrexham fans who now have the most to sing about.

Just two minutes after left-back Mal Benning’s superb left-foot shot with the outside of his boot had come back off the bar, he got the hook in a double substitution.

And within three minutes Wrexham were ahead from Tom O’Connor’s deflected shot.

That’s how cup ties can turn. Goals change games.

And suddenly Shrewsbury look all over the shop!

Everybody has worked hard today, the quality has been lacking at times but you've got to give Shrewsbury credit they have been relentless but they are just dropping off a little bit now.
