How can people be questioning Starc's place in the team. He has a much better strike rate than Anderson at a marginally worse average. Late left-arm swing at 90+mph. Most batsmen will be saying no thanks.

Remember the farewell that Alastair Cook got when he left the Test arena, or the hole that he left?
Anderson's are likely to be bigger. For a fast bowler to have a Test career spanning 17 years (and counting) and still be among the best in the business will never be repeated.
When he made his Test debut, Alec Stewart was keeping wicket for England. The Gaffer has been retired since 2003...

Time for a big statement.
For my money, James Anderson is England's finest Test cricketer of all time.
It's not just the stellar numbers, or the longevity (which sort of go hand-in-hand), but it's the sheer skill.
At the age of 37, there is still no other bowler in the world (perhaps ever), who you'd throw the ball to if you were expecting it to move a millimetre off the straight.
The Burnley Express can swing a tangerine around corners.
