It's all happening in West End, Eastleigh.

Durham's first innings eventually came to an end, half an hour into day four, with them 71 behind Hampshire on 432.

It included 52* from Ben Raine, while Liam Dawson took 5-184 in a mammoth 66 overs, the third logest spell by a Hampshire player in county cricket. Felix Organ also took 4-101.

Then with drizzle in the air things took a strange turn. After three and a bit days of pedestrian cricket we entered a different world.

Firstly the umpires changed the ball after one delivery. I haven't seen that before. No doubt another bad cow. Matty Potts, wicketless to this point, then struck twice in the first five overs. Ali Orr, who made a century in the first innings, was caught behind for four at the start of the third over.

And at the start of the fifth over Potts bowled Fletcha Middleton for five. Hampshire were 9-2 at that point. And then the umpires changed the ball again.

Calvin Harrison drops short again and Tom Hartley rocks ball and pulls it into the onside.

It is stopped in the field, but not before Hartley can get through for the one run he needs for 50.

Well batted by the England spinner.

A rank full-toss from Calvin Harrison is hit by Tom Hartley. It's excellently fielded by Dane Paterson to prevent four runs.

But the single does push Lancashire into the lead.

Not many people know how Jack Leaning will feel right now, but one of them that does has been standing just metres away from him for the last 145 overs.

In 2021 Jake Libby carried his bat for 11 hours and 21 minutes through Worcestershire's first innings against Essex at Chelmsford, playing the second-longest innings in County Championship history, ending just two minutes short of Jason Gallian's record set in 1996 for Lancashire against Derbyshire at Old Trafford.

Only four players have reached 11 hours at the crease, the other two were Steve James and Mike Powell, both for Glamorgan.

Ben Compton and Zak Crawley, who combined for 23 minutes in the middle in the first innings, are back out there trying to keep Worcestershire at bay for 73 overs.

The Northants total passes 200 as Karun Nair elegantly strokes - or is it 'strokes elegantly'? - Ajeet Singh Dale away for four.

No Marchant de Lange yet for Gloucestershire this morning, but it is now time for the left-arm spin of Zafar Gohar.

Notts 503 v Lancashire 331 & 170-6

Matty Hurst works a quick single into the legside off Calvin Harrison to bring up a hard-fought half-century.

It's a second in successive matches for the young wicketkeeper.

He has batted 87 balls for this with four fours and one six, but he will know there is a lot left to do.

Free runs for George Bartlett as Tom Price strays onto his pads and he flicks it away for four.

That, though, is lucky, lucky, lucky. Bartlett dangles the bat at a 'nothing' ball outside off stump and a thick inside edge brings him four more.

Having been praising Worcestershire for their efforts I'm also very keen to point out that Kent have played pretty well too, Jack Leaning in particular.

The pitch has been a challenge for both sets of players an for most of the mammoth Worcestershire innings of 618-7 dec the Kent bowlers were very tidy. It only really got a bit messy towards the end.

Worcestershire throughout this innings have bene pretty focused.

What we've seen is a game played on a pitch that has not really been conducive to particularly good cricket.

We've seen two sides who were tipped to struggle in Division One and have acquitted themselves pretty well.

Congratulations to those cricket nerds out there, who knew that Anthony McGrath made his England debut in the same match as Jimmy Anderson.

McGrath's Test career saw him play two matches against Zimbabwe and two against South Africa that summer of 2003 with two fifties against the Zimbabweans.

He also played 14 ODIs, the last of which came in 2004.

McGrath is now coach of Essex.

We must stop drooling about Karun Nair's timing - but batting like this can only be admired.

A glorious cover drive, with absolutely zero effort, brings him four runs and he then runs the final ball of Ajeet Singh Dale's over down to third man for another.

He is only 24 not out - but this is wonderful to watch.

Matty Hurst has already walloped one six off Calvin Harrison this morning and here is another show of intent, although this one bounces just short of the rope.

Still, four more runs bring this partnership over the 100-mark.

Hurst and Tom Hartley have added 102 since the perils of 61-6 yesterday evening.

Brilliant work by James Bracey - but was he quick enough?

Northants batter George Bartlett overbalances as he pushes forward to Tom Price and Gloucestershire's keeper claims a leg-side stumping.

The square leg umpire says no and replays suggest Bartlett just got his foot back in time.

A lovely shot through midwicket for Matty Hurst off Dane Paterson gets him four welcome runs.

It moves the score up to 150, with Lancashire only 22 away from making Notts bat again.

A good first hour from the visitors.

Big thick edge from Jack Leaning off Kashif Ali races past Jason Holder at slip and away to the rope to take him to 173 in nine hours and 34 minutes.

Kent are still 68 shy of the follow-on target.

A good win by Surrey, I actually think nine wickets flattered them a little bit because I think the game was a little bit closer than that but Surrey just put their foot on the accelerator pedal at the crucial moments in this game.
