Palestinian embroiderers and Israeli haute couture work together for peace

A unique business partnership between Palestinian and Israeli women is creating not only beautiful clothes but a new and very practical pathway to peace.

A group of thirty Palestinian embroiderers from Bethlehem recently joined forces with Comme Il Faut, an upscale fashion house in Tel Aviv to create a collection of blouses that combines traditional Middle Eastern patterns and embroidery with Israeli haute couture.

Using the logo Sallam Banat in Arabaic, Shalom Banot in Hebrew or in English, Peace Women, this group have tried to overcome the physical and mental barriers that divide their two societies.

Joanna Chen went to Bethlehem and Tel Aviv to meet the women behind the project.
