WhatÌýimpact willÌýthe world's biggest sex discrimination case have on low-paid women workers in the US?

A sex-discrimination lawsuit against the American supermarket giant Wal-Mart, the world's largest discount retailer, won class-action status last month, allowing it to include up to 1.5 million current and former female employees in the largest private civil rights case in US history.

The suit alleges that the retail giant set up a system that frequently pays its female workers less than their male counterparts for comparable jobs and bypasses them for key promotionsÌýÌý

Plaintiff, Chris Kwapnoski andÌýlawyer, Jocelyn Larkin talk about why the case was brought to court.ÌýÌý

Jenni discusses theÌýpossible impactÌýthe case will have on the position of low paid female workers in the US with Lauren Foster of the Financial Times in New YorkÌýand ProfessorÌýKatherine NewmanÌýof Princeton University.
