For years, she lived virtually in hiding, afraid that she might meet a similar fate at the hands of Argentinian military dictatorship. Nearly 30 years on, she has been described as a new force in Argentinian politics.
Women's groups including The Mothers of the Disappeared, have brought about a sea change in Argentinian politics. A recent victory highlighted their work when the Argentinian Senate removed the right to immunity from prosecution from members of the former dictatorship.
