Ìý Congo Monday 11 August 2003 Ìý
Rape and sexual violence have been used on a large scale as a weapon of war in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Human Rights organisations say the conflict there has claimed more lives than any since 2nd World War, yet it has been little reported in the Western media. Despite peace talks and the presence of UN forces violence continues particularly in the North Eastern Ituri region.
Petronile Vaweka the newly elected female president of the Ituri Assembly in Congo tells Jenni how she is is working to bring peace to the region.
Followed by Rachel Rendell the producer-director whose documentary on the conflict will be on Channel 4 next week and Anneke Van Woudenberg, a Congo specialist at Human Rights Watch join Jenni to discuss further.
'Dispatches - Congo's Killing Fields', Channel 4, 9pm, Sunday 17 August
