Life for kids in the slums of Mumbai

The Oscars are just days away.....and one of the favourites this year is Danny Boyle's 'Slumdog Millionaire'. The Golden Globe and Bafta winning film has been nominated for 11 academy awards.ÌýÌý Set in the Indian city of Mumbai - the film tells the story of a young man, Jamal, whose life experiences growing up in one of Asia's largest slums, Dharavi,Ìýwith his brother Saleem, help him to win millions on a gameshow.

More than one million people live on almost two-square kilometres of land in this slum. Housing conditions are cramped and there is little or no sanitation.Ìý Tinku Ray has been finding out what the reality of life is like for people living there, and speaks to two ofÌý'Slumdog Millionaires' youngest actors, who like their characters, live in a slum in India's financial capital.
