Winning Women's Votes: Sharing parental leave 1 February 2010
A positive step forward?

The government has just announced that from April 2011 fathers will have the right to take up to six months of paternity leave - three months of it paid - during the second six months of their baby's life, ifÌýthe mother has returned to work. The change will effectively enable new parents to split the year's parental leave that is currently available only to mothers. So is this a positive way forward or have rights to parental leave gone too far? As part of our Winning Women’s Votes series, Jane is joined by Dame Margaret Prosser, deputy chair of the Equalities and Human Rights Commission, Richard Reeves, director of Demos, and Tina Knight, chair of Women Into Business.
