Outdoor games in 20th century Britain

'Hop, Skip and Jump: the story of children’s play' is a new two-part documentary series beginning today on Â鶹ԼÅÄ4. It tells the story of children's outdoor games in the 20th-century, and the way in which play varied between city and country, boys and girls, and different social classes. The programme’s producer Steve Humphries joins Jane to discuss what the changes in outdoor play mean for today's children. Jane also talks to the journalist, scriptwriter and grandmother Jan Etherington.

is on Â鶹ԼÅÄ4 at 9pm, Tuesday 8th December
