Angie Hobbs: Philosophy Matters 15 Oct 2009
Plato and Aristotle (and other philosophers) in 'The School of Athens' by Raphael
The Senior Fellow in the Public Understanding of Philosophy discusses why philosophy matters.

From Plato to Foucault, understanding philosophy has never been easy. Complex arguments and unfamiliar terms can make texts seem at best demanding, at worse indecipherable. Yet this could all be about to change. Associate Professor of Philosophy at Warwick University, Dr Angie Hobbs, has become the first ever UK Senior Fellow in the Public Understanding of Philosophy. It will be her job to bring philosophy to a much wider audience. So is it possible to live both a happy life and a virtuous one and do ethics and economics really sit in opposite camps? Angie joins Jenni to discuss why philosophy matters.
