Winning Women's Votes: Equal Pay 2010 3 Feb 2010
The Gender Pay Gap: what will it take to get women on an equal footing?

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the passing of the Equal Pay Act. Forty years on women are still on average paid 20.2 % less per hour than men (combining full-time and part-time earnings). The gender pay gap is something that all the main parties have signed up to tackle. How effective will measures in the Equality Bill be? Will transparency through pay audits and talking about your salary be enough to bridge the gap? As part of Winning Women’s Votes, Jenni discusses the issues with Ceri Goddard, Chief Executive of the Fawcett Society, Bronwyn McKenna from Unison, and Abigail Morris, employment adviser for the British Chambers of Commerce.
